Paul Hemsley
Paul Hemsley is an experienced PR practitioner. As a senior consultant, his PR counsel is informed by more than 20 years in the communications industry. Having worked in politics, the public service and most recently in commercial consultancy, Paul’s knowledge and experience cover the depth and breadth of the communications spectrum. As the principal of PHPR, Paul is a valued associate of Network PR.
Paul thrives on the variety and challenge of a busy consultancy. He enjoys the process of developing successful strategic solutions to client problems, but believes implementation is the real test of any communications team. “Strategy doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact it’s often best to go for a simple strategic approach and implement it brilliantly.”
As an accomplished wordsmith, Paul appreciates and values good writing as a core PR skill. “Writing is inevitably a significant part of the job. I always aim for a writing style that is crisp, fresh and easy to comprehend. The most important thing is that the message the client wants to transmit is done so clearly and unambiguously and that all the potential ramifications have been considered as part of the process.”
Having worked with a number of manufacturing and food related clients, Paul is well versed in the disciplines involved in successful issues management. “Issues are the bread and butter of our industry. If they’re not managed well they have the potential to escalate to crisis level at an alarmingly rapid pace. The key to good issues management is always forward preparation.”
