Barfoot & Thompson Helps Auckland Shine at Lantern Festival

Barfoot & Thompson will join thousands of Aucklanders to celebrate the city’s cultural diversity at the upcoming Auckland Lantern Festival, Friday 26 to Sunday 28 February.

The eleventh annual Festival will mark 2010 as the Year of the Tiger and boast stunning lantern displays, inspiring international performances, a road-way smorgasbord of delicious ethic foods and craft stalls as a glowing finale to the Chinese New Year.

Managing Director Peter Thompson says the company’s appreciation of Auckland as a unique and culturally diverse city is at the core of their support of the Festival.

“Auckland is home to people and families from all over the globe, and Barfoot & Thompson takes pride in being able to help immigrants put down new roots in our great city.

“Our support for the Auckland Lantern Festival also pays respect to our own large and diverse sales team,” he said.

Barfoot & Thompson’s staff, of over 900 salespeople across 60 branches in Auckland and Northland, represents more than 35 different ethnicities.

“We have helped many new migrants establish successful real estate careers, and, of our top 10 salespeople, half were born outside of New Zealand,” said Mr Thompson.

“Barfoot & Thompson has been operating in Auckland for 85 years and our team gets great joy from going out into the community and helping it shine through these sorts of events.”

Barfoot & Thompson staff will be on hand at the company’s marquee at the Auckland Lantern Festival to assist anyone wishing to find out more about selling or buying a home.

The Auckland Lantern Festival is a free public event, and will be held in Albert Park in Auckland City from 5:00pm to 10:00pm on Friday 26 to Sunday 28 February.  More information is available at the Auckland City Council event page: www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/whatson/events.
