Media Training
At Network PR, we are media training experts. Whether you require one-on-one training for a specific media opportunity, or have a group of up to four people to be trained across a range of possible media scenarios, we ensure participants gain the confidence and competence they need to effectively represent their organisation with authority and credibility.
Network PR’s media training gives you the skills to best represent your company and your role within it, including a full understanding of:
- how the media works, the rules of engagement, and the New Zealand media landscape
- what the media is trying to achieve and the tools they use to achieve that
- the tools you can use to give the media what they need from an interview, while making the most of the opportunity for you and your organisation
Our training can take place in a simulated, live studio environment which gives you the closest possible experience to an actual live television or radio interview.
We can help to develop key messages and other important interview techniques within our training programme, enabling you to take control of an interview.
We research and develop scenarios tailor-made to your role based around realistic media situations you could face.
Your performance after each interview is constructively reviewed and critiqued as a group, so your skills and competence progressively builds through the session.
Media Relations Programmes
Network PR works closely with its clients to build tailored media relations programmes to suit specific needs. We would usually recommend a structured, sustained 12 month media relations programme; however, specific initiatives may require a shorter or longer strategy. We would work with you to develop a suitable plan.
The initial process would begin with a client meeting to determine goals, objectives and relevant audiences. We then respond with recommendations and a suggested strategy to achieve this. From this, tactics, budget and timeframe for implementation would be agreed upon mutually.
The overarching element of a successful media relations programme is its strategy. To support this we work with you to develop specific media angles, key messages and identify and prepare appropriate company spokesperson/people. Network PR would assist with the development and production of supporting collateral such as key messages, fact sheets, media releases, Q&A, web copy and, if relevant, project information.
Media Monitoring
At Network PR we work with a media monitoring partner to ensure that we keep our clients up to date with day to day media coverage relevant to their business. The service covers core daily news media (including print, radio, television and digital media), as well as longer lead weekly and monthly magazines, community publications and trade/industry journals.
An ongoing service can be set up to monitor specific media on a daily basis and a regular report can be provided as agreed with a client.
One-off monitoring can be set up for a specific period to capture coverage of a project such as a particular issue, company announcement or initiative. We can tailor this service to meet your needs, budget and project duration.
Media Evaluation
- Media analysis - at a client’s request we can assess the media coverage of a particular issue against predetermined criteria. A report is prepared which analyses coverage, including the number of mentions (neutral, positive and negative), brand mentions, relevant message alignment and placement of a story within the news media.
- Media valuation - this can measure the editorial coverage gained through PR against equivalent advertising spend. Please note, this is an indicative measure only and is assessed by the industry standard that editorial coverage is equivalent to four times the value of advertising spend.
